SGS Minerals Services is the global market leader in geochemical testing and services for the global exploration and mining industries. We are recruiting for Junior Chemists across the country but have specific needs in our Analytical Minerals Group, based in Lakefield (Peterborough), Toronto, Alberta, and Vancouver.

JUNIOR CHEMIST IN TRAINING

For this entry level position, candidates require a recent B.Sc. or Technical Degree with experience in:

  • Familiarity with some of the following instrumentation: UV spectrophotometer, flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF
  • Classical ‘wet’ chemistry methods such as: titrations (colour end-points and potentiometric end-points), gravimetric finishes, electroplating, volumetric analysis
  • Knowledge of basic lab skills such as pipetting, dilutions, weighing, filtration.
  • Good lab practice, i.e. strong health and safety focus, especially when working with acids and other potentially harmful reagents
  • Ability to multi-task within a team environment is essential as is the ability to work shifts, a possibility
